Following the merger of the Prison and Probation Services under NOMS, the Ministry of Justice sought to develop a more empowering, inspirational, and collaborative leadership approach. The aim was to foster a cultural shift from the commanding and direct leadership style of the prison service to a consultative and relationship-driven leadership model more typical of probation services. The Developing Managers programme has been a highly effective instrument in supporting our middle managers through times of immense change. The programme has enabled participants to consider how they can function effectively as leaders and managers in the changing world of NOMS and to consider their own strengths and development needs to move forward on a personal and professional level.
